With the 2018 International Women’s Day coming up on Thursday the 8th of March, Homebodii has put together a list of seven of the most inspiring women in history. These women revolutionised our society and encouraged the next generation of women to be unique, speak up and achieve their dreams.

Education is power, right? Michelle Obama's efforts have inspired us to support the next generation and have given young women a chance to learn, be exceptional, inspired and determined to succeed.
Coco Chanel

Coco Chanel remains an inspiring icon in the fashion industry, as she designed clothes that challenged gender stereotypes and encouraged women to feel free in her clothing. Today, women look fierce and fashionable in tailored trousers, suits and flat shoes.
Coco Chanel encouraged women to step out of the box with their fashion and gave women a chance to be stylish yet liberated.
Marie Curie

Marie Curie is on our list of seven inspiring women as she was a leading female figure in science. Despite being criticised for her interest in the scientific field, her research on radioactivity contributed to the development of X-rays.
Her success shows that any woman shouldn’t be afraid to pursue their interests, despite others trying to convince them otherwise. You never know, your interests could change the world someday.
Malala Yousafzai

Amelia Earhart

A pioneer in the aviation field, Amelia Earhart was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, set numerous records in aviation and created an organisation that encouraged women to pursue a career as a pilot.
Like Marie Curie, Amelia encouraged women to be unique, challenge themselves and fly high!
Emmeline Pankhurst

Co-founder of the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU), Emmeline Pankhurst persistently fought for women’s right to vote. A leader in the suffrage movement, Emmeline began the conversation for women’s political rights and contributed to women around the world having the right to vote in the modern day.
Emmeline gave us a voice and showed us that with determination and a strong passion for change, change can actually happen.
