Homebodii Bride of the Month: Samantha Anstee
A little bit about me..
My name is Samantha Anstee (still getting used to that). I married my best friend, Tim, on July 11 at the beautiful Enzo Weddings in the Hunter Valley. I’m a teacher, Tim is an athlete, and his career has taken us to some incredible places around the world. We’re both from New South Wales — Tim from the Hills District and I’m from the Central Coast. We met during the pandemic in 2020 and spent six months doing long distance before I moved to Perth to join him. After four amazing years there, Tim moved to LA earlier this year and I followed a few months later. We’re now living in the UK and loving newlywed life. Outside of our relationship, I’m passionate about health and wellbeing, spending time with family and friends, and finding the best local coffee spots wherever we go.
Our approach to planning the wedding was…
To stay true to us and focus on connection, good food, and an amazing dance floor. We worked as a team throughout the planning process, but it’s safe to say I took the lead. Since we’ve lived away from family for most of our relationship, we wanted the wedding to feel like a genuine celebration with our people. It was important that the day reflected our love and story in both the big and small details. Everything was chosen with intention. From the venue and the music to the homemade crosswords on the back of each name card, we really wanted the day to reflect our playful, competitive, and sincere sides.
Looking back, we’re so glad that we…
Took time to do couple portraits on our own. That moment, right after we were married, gave us space to breathe and really take it all in. It felt so special to just be together in the quiet for a little while. And honestly, I’m glad we practiced our first dance once in my parents’ bathroom. We’re not exactly natural dancers, but it made it feel authentic and fun. We even managed to include a lift, which still makes me laugh every time I think about it.
The most unexpected part of the day was…
How calm I felt. I’m not a naturally calm person, but the night before and the morning of, I was completely at peace. I just kept thinking, no matter what happens today, I’m marrying my best friend. Our guests also loved the vintage cars. They drove up through the vineyards, which everyone could see from the chapel as Tim waited for me. We actually only confirmed the route the day before, so no one really knew it was happening. The surprise element made it even more memorable.
When I look back now, I feel…
So much joy and gratitude. The day was honestly everything I dreamed of and more. We moved to the UK just three days after the wedding, so getting to celebrate with those closest to us before we left was really meaningful. My heart feels so full with how much love we were surrounded by.
My advice to new brides is…
Trust yourself and try to enjoy the process. It goes by so quickly. Make decisions that reflect who you are as a couple, and let go of the things that don’t feel right. On the day, if something doesn’t go exactly to plan, no one else will notice. All that really matters is that you’re there, marrying your person.
My Homebodii moment was special because…
It made the wedding morning feel so elegant and calm. I had my eye on Homebodii pieces from early on, but I took my time deciding exactly what I wanted to wear. I was drawn to the Sian Long Slip for its beautiful, timeless silhouette, but at the time it wasn’t available in white. I considered wearing one of the pyjama sets, or even getting the slip in blush, but when it came back in white, I knew it was meant to be. On the morning of the wedding, I wore the Sian Long Slip with the matching Sian Robe and felt so comfortable and beautiful. It was everything I had hoped for.
