Homebodii Bride of the Month: Sharon Mccluskey
We knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together when…
This might sound a bit wild, but Conleth actually said it before we even met in person. We’d been talking during COVID, and after he saw a video of me singing on Instagram, he turned to his friend and said, “I’m going to marry this girl.”
For me, it was the way he used to drive up and down from Belfast to Dublin, sometimes twice in one day, just to see me for a quick coffee. But the moment that really sealed it for both of us was his brother’s anniversary mass in Ireland. I gave him a pocket watch with a photo of him and his brother engraved inside. It was such a meaningful, emotional moment, I think we both knew, without saying it out loud, that this was it.
Our approach to planning the wedding was…
Divide and conquer! Conleth has a head for numbers, and I’m all about the creative side, so we leaned into our strengths. He handled the budgets, invoices, and even the dreaded seating plan (I get too emotionally tangled in that stuff), while I created the mood boards, designed all of my dresses and my bridesmaids’ dresses, and took charge of the overall vision. Leaning into each other’s strengths made the process so much smoother - highly recommend it!
The most unexpected part of the day was…
Definitely when I sang during the ceremony, a total surprise, even to my parents! I hadn’t planned on doing it, but in the moment, our celebrant just handed me the mic and it felt right. It was raw and emotional and so special. Another unexpected thing was how calm I felt. I always assumed I’d be a bag of nerves walking down the aisle, but I wasn’t at all. I was just so, so excited to be marrying my best friend (as cliché as that sounds but it’s true!).
When I look back on the day now, I feel…
A bit sad that it’s over , it flew by, but mostly just deeply happy. We did it exactly the way we wanted, surrounded by the people who matter most. It warms my heart just thinking about that week. I’ll always remember the laughter, the love, and the music , especially on our second day. The music was unreal!
A word of advice for new brides would be…
Don’t get lost in the weeds. Seriously. The tiny details you’re stressing over, nobody else will even notice. I did get caught up in some of them, and now I wish I had just relaxed a bit more. Guests are there for you, not the table setting or the font on the menu. Think about the last wedding you attended, can you remember what the plates and setting looked like? Exactly. So soak it all up and focus on the magic happening around you.
My Homebodii moment was special because…
Honestly, there are so many reasons. From the start, the girls at Homebodii , especially Paige - were incredible. She helped me source the perfect looks for myself and my bridesmaids, coordinated delivery across the globe (literally: Sydney to Ireland to Mallorca!), and made everything so seamless. On the morning of the wedding, my Georgina robe and Valentina Bodysuit were exactly what I envisioned, elegant, timeless, with a vintage feel that complimented my veil and tied the whole aesthetic together. It made those photos more special than I could have imagined. I’m genuinely so grateful that Homebodii was part of such a meaningful moment.
