Homebodii Bride of the month: Jessie Boak
A little about you?....
"I was born and raised near the Jersey Shore (so it was only right to have our wedding in Spring Lake, NJ!) I currently work in Social Media Marketing and reside in Jersey with my new husband (that still feels crazy to say!) and our a Mini Goldendoodle, Honey!"
Our approach to planning the wedding was…
"Making sure it felt authentic to us! Social platforms like Tik Tok, Instagram, and Pinterest consistently throw information at you about what is currently "in" and "out" for weddings, but we wanted to make sure these external opinions did not impact our decisions. I have always dreamed of having an ethereal and delicately romantic wedding. Staying true to this vision was important to us, regardless of the current wedding "trends" and opinions!"
Looking back on the day we are so glad that we…
"Hired a wedding planner! We used Arielle Fera Events and she exceeded all of our expectations by bringing our elevated fairytale vision to life and ensuring that the day ran seamlessly!"
The most unexpected part of the day was.…
"The waterfall of tears that poured down my face as my dad and I began walking down the aisle. In all sincerity, I did not think that I would cry during the ceremony, or at least cry that much. The moment our string quartet began playing 'Can't Help Falling in Love' and I saw my soon-to-be husband waiting at the end of the aisle, it was all over! The tears instantly started flowing! It was one of the most special (and unexpected) moments of the day that I will treasure forever."
My Homebodii moment was special because…
"It set the tone for the day ahead. The Olivia Slip paired with the Farrah Lace Chiffon Robe perfectly captured my vision of a delicately romantic and feminine look, fit for a princess! The gorgeous blush pink ribbon and the delicate lace detail could not have matched better with the details of our wedding. Thank you Homebodii for making me feel so elegant on our big day."
My inspiration for my hair and make up...
"For makeup, I wanted a bronzy natural-glam look. My makeup artist Gia did my makeup for previous wedding events (bridal shower and bachelorette) so by this point she knew me very well! If possible, I would recommend future brides use their makeup artist for pre-wedding events so that the artist has a chance to learn your features and which looks you like best. For hair, I wanted something timeless and elegant that still felt like me. The effortless up-do by Alisha Nycole was just that!"
When I look back on the day now I feel….
"Like a princess! After the ceremony I felt an overwhelming sense of joy. I remember telling my wedding planner that I felt like I was floating on clouds! It was so wonderful to have all of our very favorite people gathered together in one place."
A word of advice to new brides would be….
"The day goes by in the blink of an eye, so it's important to take time throughout the day to ground yourself and ensure you are completely present. One of my maid of honors told me to say "I'm getting married today!" to myself throughout the day as a reminder of what is actually happening amongst the whirlwind of chaos. Although it may sound silly, this little piece of advice really helped me stay present through the entire day!"
